Quick Answer — one‑minute pre‑Attack decision order

Section titled “Quick Answer — one‑minute pre‑Attack decision order”
  1. Inspect the next battle or Mission objective.
  2. Identify the bottleneck: squad, leader levels, materials, equipment, or leader availability.
  3. Pick leaders for battle, defense, Explorations, or training.
  4. Check legal squad: five‑monster cap and your command‑cost budget.
  5. Send idle leaders on Explorations if you need resources, money, or experience points.
  6. Spend only to remove the next bottleneck (upgrade stronghold, recruit, or buy equipment).
  7. Final pre‑Attack check and choose to enter the Attack Phase now or spend another season developing.
  8. Contested same-Stronghold invasions resolve via Right of Attack — plan alternatives rather than staking the season on one contested invasion.

When both sides target the same Stronghold in the same season, only one side executes that invasion. Losing Right of Attack wastes that Attack opportunity. Current-release testing points to whole-force strength plus a random component — not visible leader level alone. For the practical answer, Battle Power working model, and unknowns, see the dedicated Right of Attack guide. Related: Combat Tips and Walkthrough.

Before ending Organization Phase, do these checks

Section titled “Before ending Organization Phase, do these checks”
  • Next objective: does the upcoming battle require a specific formation or leader type? Prioritize leaders that give the right formation and skills.
  • Bottleneck check: is the limiting factor your squad size/command cost, leader levels, missing equipment, or lack of materials/stronghold bonuses? Focus on the single most limiting item.
  • Squad legality: confirm you will field no more than five monsters and remain within your command‑cost budget.
  • Idle leaders: any leader not fighting this season is a candidate for Explorations or Drill training—they return resources, money, and experience points.
  • Assign leaders that produce the required formation and can handle the Mission objective.
  • Reserve leaders you need for defense or upcoming objectives.
  • If a leader is better used to close a longer‑term gap (training, Explorations for materials), prioritize that instead of forcing them into a risky battle.
  • Finalize your squad composition with the firm five‑monster cap in mind.
  • Also check your command‑cost budget as the practical legality constraint. If you exceed either, drop or swap units before ending Organization Phase.

Assign idle Leaders to Exploration / quests

Section titled “Assign idle Leaders to Exploration / quests”
  • Leaders who do not join battles can be sent on Explorations to gather resources, money, and experience points.
  • Use Explorations to shore up the exact shortfall identified in your bottleneck analysis (e.g., materials for a stronghold upgrade or experience for a leader).
  • For detailed quest types and recommendations on who to send, see /quests-training/.
  • If you need a stronghold bonus to support the plan, invest materials into the upgrade—strongholds can be upgraded with materials and provide bonuses.
  • If recruitment is the bottleneck, use hiring options available at your stronghold.
  • If equipment is the limiter, prioritize purchases that directly enable the leader or squad you intend to field.
  • Avoid splashing resources across multiple unrelated upgrades; fix the immediate constraint first.

Decide whether to invade now or keep developing

Section titled “Decide whether to invade now or keep developing”
  • Choose Attack Phase now if your planned squad, formation, and leader levels meet the next objective and your bottleneck is resolved.
  • Stay in Organization Phase if the single remaining bottleneck meaningfully increases risk (weak leader level, missing critical equipment, or insufficient stronghold bonuses).
  • There is no universal optimal timing; base the choice on the identified bottleneck and whether one more season removes it.
  • Run a short checklist:
    • Does my squad meet the five‑monster cap and command‑cost budget?
    • Do I have leaders of adequate level for the next objective, or would Explorations/training close that gap?
    • Will a single upgrade (stronghold/recruit/equipment) change the outcome of the next battle?
  • If answers are borderline, prefer sending nonessential leaders on Explorations and delaying Attack Phase one season.
  • For campaign sequencing and “what to do next” choices, consult /walkthrough/.

Why are my characters falling behind the AI?

Section titled “Why are my characters falling behind the AI?”

Common, bounded causes:

  • Idle leaders not assigned to Explorations or training — missing steady returns of resources, money, and experience points.
  • Too little time spent on Explorations/training to keep leader levels competitive.
  • An aggressive Attack tempo that pushes under‑prepared squads into fights instead of fixing bottlenecks first.
  • Not investing resources where they close the real gap (equipment, recruitment, or a targeted stronghold upgrade).

Avoid assuming a hidden formula: address these practical items first rather than searching for an exact AI scaling rule.
